On Sunday, March 16, the South Boston Allied War Veterans Council presents the annual Boston St. Patrick’s Day Parade, starting at 11:30 a.m. Beat the crowds — each year, the turnout equals over half a million attendees — and head to the Broadway T station to save spots at the beginning of the parade and witness a nearly 300-year-old tradition. When I was a kid, I remember every year towards the end, there would be 3-4 paddy wagons picking up a bunch of kids fighting each other. One year in old colony, I saw someone get shot. These days it's mostly finance bros and families that come in from the burbs.
